Waterford, Ireland

Lovely to be back in Ireland today, all too short though.  We sailed into the port of Waterford at around 8 am.  Our tour was at 2.30 in the afternoon but I went into town on the shuttle for a couple of hours during the morning.  Took a walk around town, we stayed here in 2012 and everything looked pretty much as it was then.  Didn’t need to visit the Waterford Crystal works again although some people did. Our tour was ‘a country drive and an Irish Pub’.  Boarded the bus, the lovely guide had a problem with the PA system so we then had to wait half an hour while they got another bus.  Didn’t matter, we weren’t sailing till 8 pm!  We drove in and around Waterford then on to a beach area ‘famous’ for its surf but it was a bit like the shallows at South Melbourne!  But very pretty.  On to a town called Tramore, then Fenner and along a beautiful coast line.  Was wild, the cliffs very dramatic and underneath are the old coal mines.  Ended up at The Sweep, a pub at Kilmeaden where we were treated to some fabulous Irish music and a Guinness or whatever you wanted to drink.  Stayed there 1 1/2 hours then back to the ship for dinner.  The pub was great, musicians friendly and belting out all the old favourites! Tonight’s entertainment was the Irish comedian again, very entertaining.  Two more nights left!!!
