Devon

Another day in beautiful Devon, once you get out from the wilds of where we are staying it is lovely.  Am almost teetotal, would love to have a glass of wine with dinner but the roads are so narrow and winding it’s not worth the risk.  Our plan, which worked, was to have dinner at the Anchor Inn at Cockwood, quite a popular place with a great view across to Exeter and sitting outdoors we saw many trains passing by from Plymouth  to Exeter along with a steam train.  The sea bream was delicious!!! The bay was devoid of water, tide was out but many small boats waiting!!! 

We really went down to the coast and followed the road all the way to Dartmouth today.  I was so impressed with the bays, sights, attractions.  Everyone enjoying themselves, and why not!  They’ve waited a long time for a summer like this.  Stopped for a coffee at Teignmouth, a beautiful spot high on the hill.  Also a good swimming beach. Next stop Torquay, very picturesque so we stopped for a walk along the foreshore which was full of restaurants and shops. Not hungry enough for lunch yet but G couldn’t resist the fish & chips so I decided to try their cream tea.  Scones were delicious, as was the tea.  With a full belly my passenger slept for the next several miles so was just as well I decided to go into the town of Brixham - turned out to be yet another beautiful town which has the Francis Drake replica ‘Golden Hind’ right near the promenade.  G had an ice cream while I checked out a couple of shops and then I heard some singing, all the old favourite hymns!  Turns out the Sallies had turned up which must be a regular thing on a Sunday. Next stop was Dartmouth, really only 20minutes further on and we took the small car ferry across to the other side of the town and had a quick look around.  This is definitely like a Trafalgar tour and funnily enough a TT but went by as we were getting petrol.  The way home took longer than planned.  But we finally made it to the Anchor Inn!!!
