New York
Arrived yesterday at JFK on time with Qatar - the second leg of the journey was great, can’t fault the airline. Our hotel is just off Times Square - handy in some ways but there are thousands of people everywhere. We chose to stay in this area as it’s close to the shipping terminal but Times Square is always a bit seedy and full of interesting and very odd characters! And it’s very hot, in the low 90’s and a big contrast to weather at home. Went out for a fairly forgettable meal last night, popped into a Walgreens on the way back and the escalators were out of order, the shop looked grubby and they didn’t have what we wanted! Took the subway this morning and it, too, was very grubby, although guess that has always been the case. Pastrami on rye for lunch at Angela’s didn’t disappoint though, the standard there hasn’t dropped!
I ditched George for half an hour and while out I saw bare breasted young girls with painted messages over their bodies saying ‘it’s OK to say no’!!! Anything goes!!!
Have had a very nice steak and glass of wine for dinner, the walk home was nice, still warm, but everything looks so much better with all the lights. Haven’t been to a show as nothing on that we really want to see even if we could get tickets. Right next door is the theatre where Pretty Woman will show but doesn’t start till late July sadly.
Have had a complaint already about the lack of blog today - so here goes, Annie G!!!
